Details: Starry Night is a 2000-piece jigsaw puzzle based on the Dutch post-impressionist artist Vincent van Gogh. This original painting is the most renowned achievement of his illustrious and remarkably short career. In the time span of only 8 years (1880-1890), van Gogh produced more than 2000 drawings and paintings. Today, scholars and art enthusiasts alike continue to analyze, debate and ponder the tormented spirit of this eccentric genius and the depiction of the village of Saint-Remy. In contrast, 19th Century European society of van Gogh's own time was not yet ready to accept his truthful and emotionally morbid way of depicting his art subjects. Nonetheless, his internal turbulence clearly seen in most of his work set the stage for a new style of painting called Expressionism.
