Details: A virtual master class with Ian Norbury! Woodcarvers can now experience a coveted master class with Ian Norbury from the convenience of their own home thanks to this DVD which includes plan drawings, still photographs, and 2 hours of step-by-step video instruction. Acknowledged as one of the world's leading wood sculptors, Ian Norbury's work is in collections all over the world, including commissions for Buckingham Palace and the Tower of London. He is the author of several books including Art of Ian Norbury and Sculpting the Female Face & Figure in Wood and has taught sculpture in many countries. Here this living master provides one-to-one virtual training for aspiring woodcarvers, as he carves and explains his techniques for producing a finished piece. Ian demonstrates his method of portraying Venus after her liaison with Mars, the god of war. She is carved from limewood, with some copper and silver embellishment, mounted on a 12-inch (30 cm) diameter marble sphere. This challenging carving requires a very systematic approach, completing certain stages in order before attempting the next stage. It is quite difficult to access certain areas, requiring some ingenuity in the use of holding devices. Follow along to create a truly memorable piece with Ian!
