Pit Bull Flower Power is an iconic photography project created by Sophie Gamand, which has transformed pit bull advocacy worldwide. Since 2014, the artist and advocate has worked with countless dog rescue organizations around the U.S. and abroad, to showcase adoptable shelter dogs who needed an extra boost. She adorned hundreds of pit bull-type dogs with handmade flower crowns, to showcase their sweet nature. These charming portraits often led to adoption. Sophie Gamand is an artist, photographer, and advocate currently based in Los Angeles. Her work focuses on the areas of friction between humans and dogs and how to heal the bond when it’s been disrupted. Since 2011, she has worked closely with animal rescues around the world. By witnessing and documenting their work, Sophie helps dogs get adopted and brings these organizations the support they need to continue their life-saving mission.
