Details: Learn to make cordage from plant fibers and loop a basket with the handmade cordage! Cordage is twisted fibers. Fibers are twisted together in long lengths to make cords, strings, and ropes. These cords can be used to tie materials or make containers such as baskets, bags, nets or textiles. Ancient cordage samples have been found worldwide. There are many plants that give plentiful and strong fibers for making cordage. After learning to make cordage with this kit you might experiment with natural plants in your region. Looping is a very old, and fairly simple method of weaving a container with cordage. Looping generally makes a soft and somewhat stretchy material.
