“Splits” are thin wooden rods that incense dough (or clay) is rolled onto to create masala-style incense sticks. If you’ve ever looked for splits before, you know they are hard to find and when you do find them they are often inconsistent shapes and covered with splinters. Incense splits from The Incense Dragon are thin, smooth, round, and consistently sized.
These splits are perfect for making masala incense. Because of their small diameter, they will have a minimal impact on the scent of your incense while providing the strength and support that masala incense needs. Since they are made of bamboo, they have very little scent of their own, unlike sticks made from pine or other aromatic woods.
Just prepare your incense dough as you would for making cones, add a little extra water, and press the dough onto a split. Roll this stick to smooth the surface and spread the dough evenly on the split. Once rolled, set aside to dry in a cool dark place for several days. Once dry, you can enjoy your own masala-style incense any time you’d like!
