Each insert is sharpened on 4 edges and when you've gone through all 4, just buy a new set of inserts and get right back to work. Replaceable Inserts Deliver Exceptional Finish and Outstanding Value Replaceable carbide inserts originated in metal working. Woodworkers first embraced them in turning tools, and now more and more are showing up in router bits. The insert in the Ultra-Shear Slab Flattening Bit has a 2" radius crown on each edge. The inserts mount to the body at an angle that puts the outside corner tangent to the cutting plane.
